*FACTS about HANNA QUALITY ROCKSLIDERS*
Open letter to the 4Runner community-
I have recieved some interesting emails lately. This is to clear up any misunderstanding about HQ.
The truth and FACTS about Hanna Quality rock sliders. These are FACTS, not opinion, not deceptive marketing. If you do not think these facts are accurate, feel free to post it here and why or contact Ken Hanna.
Alot of "firsts": 1st to accept the challenge and take the risk, find the market and design around all the requirements. 1st 100% bolt-on and XREAS compatible (and tout the benefits)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
-->HQ sliders are built around 3x4 rectangular stock. It is the most resistant to warping, bending as well as being a strong foundation for the slider. They are built for a lifetime of abuse; whether you go heavy with mods or not.
-->The 3x4 rail runs the length of the 4Runner body pinch weld. It creates a flat surface for this very strong part of the body to rest on if the slider or body flexed. (see pic above)
-->HQ 4th gen sliders are custom made exactly as Ken intended for the 4th gen. It shares no measurement with HQ Land Cruiser sliders. They are specifically designed for the 4th gen in every regard.
-->Every connection of HQ's slider is triangulated, C-section welded (the outrigger supports) or boxed.
-->Interlocking, triangulated and lasercut supports with 50,000lb tensile strength U-bolts and all hardware.
-->Outrigger round tube is DOM tubing--30% harder than regular tubing to better resist dents and gouges.
-->Outrigger supports are lasercut for perfect fit and geometry. They also hold a greater surface area than traditional supports for maximum strength and reinforcement of the round bar.
-->Shot-peen hardened surface used to create an aggressive surface area for maximum bonding of...
-->2 stage powdercoat for maximum durability and finish
-->These can be easily touched up after rockrash
-->HQ sliders can be Hi-lifted, will support the weight of the truck
-->HQ sliders can be used as a step
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
*subjectively(my opinion), weight is not noticable at all. They are approx. 50lbs each. So, if driving with your girlfriend bogs your truck down than you might reconsider. Otherwise, imo, non-issue.

About Ken Hanna and HQ--------
Ken is focused on building a lifetime product. The raw materials alone cost more than some sliders. He does not compromise anything. Every part, every detail is unique. He finishes and presents it as such. This is his "gold standard".
His unique brand of bolt-on slider has been developed and refined on heavy Land Cruisers (fully armored, running the toughest trails in the US). This is the experience he brings to the 4th gen sliders.
People can buy HQ's innovative products or choose not to but Ken Hanna wll never disparage the character, business or products of a competitor; and certainly never create lies and distortions to make a sale. Attacks like these are based in fear and insecurity. They speak more about the accusor than HQ.
Ken Hanna is professional and ethical and that does not change in public or private. He is used to letting his creations be his voice.
To borrow a wheeler's quote- Price is soon forgotton, Quality is not.

All I can say is that I really liked the concept when it was first posted. After seeing the sliders in person I was really impressed with the build quality and refinement. So much so that I put my money where my mouth is and will hopefully get a set early in the new year.
There are many different ideas and concepts when it comes to sliders. Weld on vs bolt on, paint vs not paint, kick-outs vs not, etc. To each their own as each serves a specific purpose and it is up to the buyer to decide what they need and want.
As with any product there are many buying criteria and it is ultimately up to the buyer to decide which are the most important to him/her.
Mine was simple as I was looking for an extremely high quality product with a very refined apperance and the ability to mount it without messing with the frame. So my choice was clear and it was HQ.
There are many other options out there that are fine quality products, which offers different features and price points. I'm sure there will be more to come as well. All in all this will be good for the consumer as there will be more choice, especially with the limited options on the 4th Gen. As with everything time will decide which ones falls in which categories and people will decide with their $$$ which ones they prefer.

There are a few rumors that I need to clear up about the 4th gen sliders.
Hanna Qualitys (HQ) 4th gen 4 Runner sliders were 100% designed and made for the 4th gen 4 Runner with or without XREAS.
The 4th gen slider only shares 2 things with the FZJ80 slider.
1) The HQ signature square bracket with a 3 inch hole (3 go between the outer round tube and the main 2x3 square tube).
2) The use of a 2x3x3/16 inch main square tube with the FZJ80 Land Cruiser.
If anyone has any questions, please reply, email or give me a call

Got my sliders fitted yesterday. I drove down to SLO and FirstToy drove up from LA. We fitted mine, hi-lifted them to see what it does and no movement as expected. We then headed out to some hills close to SLO for some poser shots. It was really beautiful with all the rain lately. As FT was playing wih the rocks under Ken's guidance he actaully broke (OK chipped) a rock wiht the sliders when using the rock and slider as pivot point for his rig. We all thought it was pretty funny.
Oh and I test fitted wabbitt's hi-lift adapter when I got home, perfect fit!! So getting one of these is defintely a very good idea.

It was a fun day at Hanna's. It was cool to see HQ sliders on Andries truck and talk about future mods
Ken is dialed in on the sliders so you can contact him if you want a set.
This was fun grinding away at the rocks...

Just email Ken directly and ask any questions if you are interested in custom work.
If you just want to pick up some sliders, they're in full production now so just email him on availability and he'll help you out.
GOod luck

Awwright, I met up with FirsToy yesterday, and he helped me install my HQ sliders. Well, OK, I helped him install my sliders as I'm somewhat mechanically-challenged. It is indeed bolt-on, but I recommend you follow the instructions carefully, or install with someone with previous experience like I did, as there is a process involved with the installation. I haven't seen alot of sliders close up, but I can say that the HQ sliders and their mounting bracket/u-bolt system appear to be extremely well designed, engineered, manufactured, engineered, and engineered. Installation didn't take long, and we were helped out for a few minutes by a friend of FirstToy, who showed up in an ultra-clean nicely modded 40th Anniversary Edition FZJ. Hopefully Ken Hanna will realize the niche for 4th gen product and come up with more HQ product for us.

It was very good to meet you RB, and the slider install did go smooth. Not bad except you need a lift!
Ken made some great step-by-step instructions. Mostly it's just a time saver: like the best angle to slide the U-bolts in so you don't sit there and clunk around trying to figure it out. And some helpful reminders of common sense stuff.
Hope the wife approves!
Look forward to wheeling with you RB!
