Doug Thorley Header Update as of 07-08-09

This is the latest update as of July 8, 2009. Unfortunately, again, there isn't much to report. Again there is only one person who has responded and put down a credit card (me) so that Doug can create the headers. Remember that Doug Thorley's offer to create headers for the 4.7 V8 4runner is for 20-25 interested parties or they won't make the headers (its simply not worth it to them). If you are interested, you can still call Frank or any of the sales reps at Doug Thorley's (800) 347-8664 and get on the list. As soon as it hits 20-25, they will build them.

Also, I have another question, what are folks doing for headers for the 4.7 V8 anyway? Does everyone run the 4.7 with stock manifolds? Do people believe that stock will give the 4.7 more grunt than headers, is there another company that is making headers that I don't know about, and if that is the case, spill the beans so I can purchase a set.

In any case, it doesn't hurt to call Doug Thorley to show them there is an interest in building them. Again, the number is (800) 347-8664.

Thanks,

Brad

Brad, I think there may be some interest. We may need to spread the word to other 4Runner communities.

A friend of mine just bought some DT's for his 4.7 Tundra. They cost him just over $400, so I'm willing to bet that's at least the price range for ours. I'm up for it.

Potential Cost

I bought DTs for a Tundra because I was told they would fit the 4Runner (they didn't). I bought directly from DT for $700. Now I know for sure, after more diligent research, that I could have gotten the same shorties for about $457.95 from Summit Racing.

Looking for Headers on 05 4.7L V8 4x4 sport. What is the price looking like? That's a major factor for me right now. I would like to jump at the chance for someone manufacturing a part that's normally not available to us, but I've got this engagement ring to pay off while in Iraq...heh.

I don't know what the price would be for sure, but with a cat behind each stock manifold, it probably won't be cheap - but you made me think Mr. Banks, I need to call them and get one of their sales reps. email address so folks can email Doug Thorley themselves as opposed to dealing with the phone. Their phone can be a pain in the rear end.

Thanks,
Brad

I'm definately interested, just not until Nov or Dec of this year.. Unless my money tree blooms early.. So as soon as a cost is posted, I can start pinching pennies.

Jamanred,

Interest is starting in trickles right now so don't worry about missing the bus. I have a series of questions that I sent to Doug Thorley and as soon as I get a response, I will post them. The questions are really from Expat, he gave me some tips on a group buy - questions related to "what will the product do for our vehicles, cost, when will they be avalable once we hit the 20-25 buyer level, etc..." so stay tuned, more info will hopefully be coming (I sent it to them yesterday afternoon).

Thanks,
Brad

Thanks for your work on this Brad. I'm definately in. I probably won't install them until after the warranty is up, but I'd love to keep improving my girl!
