Did I get my front axle back in far enough?

Did I get my front axle back in far enough?
Hey everyone,
I've been working on replacing all four CV boots - and everything is going alright so far - but I had a HELLUVA time getting the diff side of the axle to get back into the diff. After a lot of pounding with a BFH - it just seemed do pop in.
Once it popped in, it feels secure. I can't get it back out without a pry-bar, and if I turn the power on (not the engine - while sitting in garage) and engage 4WD, the axle won't spin - so it's locked into the diff. But I'm still worried that it isn't in far enough, and no matter what I try, I can't get it in any further.
Opinions please.
This is the driver's side - and is the axle that is in question.
This is the passenger side - and hasn't been removed since Toyota built it.
This is on a 2007 Tacoma V6 TRD
Thanks for the help everyone!

If you can't pull it out by hand (there is a subtle click when pushing it in) and need a pry bar, it's home. Your first picture looks good and matches what mine looked like after I swapped my boots.
If you replaced the inboard metal dust seal the large diameter flange goes to the outside so it goes up against the diff.
