*4th GEN OLD MAN EMU SUSPENSION LIFT*
#85
This is the stock coilover clearance with sway bar, when the steering is fully turned, and the wheel has full downward droop. Just wondering if it can be an issue with either with OME or other coilover or spacer based lift.

Could you break up the 4.5" lift into preload and topout e.g. like 3" preload + 1.5" topout. I'm afraid that if the topout exceeds 1.5 to 2" then the spring might touch the sway bar (due to the small available clearance as shown in my picture).

Okay, the preload was around 2+", and the topout was around .75". Something like that, anyway.
Regardless, the Daystar kit uses a larger topout and those running it have not had any issue with the spring touching the sway bar. I don't think that the sway bar or the coil setup move enough to make it an issue.

The swaybar can't touch the strut without something going seriously wrong. The swaybar is also the thing that limts side to side flex (rock crawling), but not up and down as jumping a dune (read DOnahoe and SAW stuff here). Edit the swayar has a solid link to the spindle and the strut doesn't ever turn no matter what your wheels does.
WHat will hit is your UCA. Daysatr uses a 1" topout spacer which is the max and even then there is a slight touch of the UCA and the coil, pending on how your coil is positioned.
AT the moment the only way to get max side to side flex is taking the swaybar out, like Lance did. However I did it and found my on road handling unacceptable for me on the stock Daystar/XREAS combo.
OK now back to topic. I have my rear all sorted out now and can't wait to go hit some trails and see how it flexes, hopefully this weekend. Tehn I can see how she does with the OME kit on.

Hey Rishi, like I said before web wheelingis fun and all, but why dont you join me at Hollister. You can look at the sliders, OMEs and can we do some wheeling and you can see what the 4Runner suspensions does. This will give you a far better idea of what you are looking for man.

Well at least all for a good cause so you wont have to go through the same pain!

But some of us aren't ordering from Slee ... and if there are issues, by telling us, we can try to avoid them, or at least recognize "hey, this must've been what Andries was talking about, and he was able to find a way past it" ...

I don't have any pics of mine. The ride is farrrrrr better with the coilovers than with ANY spacer kit I ran. I think RL would agree. The reason I chose the SAWs was because they were a bit less expensive, and more than good enough for me.
