I'm more satisfied with the ride after a few hunderd miles. I still need to really give it a workout, so for me it is still to early to tell. I think the HD will be too stiff for a stock 4Runner, maybe with bumpers/winch, etc will hey work well. The mediums looks like a good choice for the 4Runners as is. No setling, but it is too early to tell for me. The rear has soften a little and I hope it softens a bit more after a good workout. Then it will be just right.

STill a few issue in the rear to resolve. Nothing major, but needs to be done.

So, what are the issues? Size/fit? Install complications? Other?

It is a 1/4" top spacer. SO it gives a bit more lift and also a bit more droop on full extension. I have the V8 and used the same 884 coils as for the V6, so I had to compensate a bit for it. You can probably try the 885 coils with the V8 without the front trim packer and the top spacer.

Mostly to do with install stuff. Nothing too serious, but needs to be resolved. It is the small things that make the difference in the end between a PITA install vs a nice and smooth one. Hoping to have these resolved soon.

The fit and function of the shocks and coils are great.

I very intrested in removing my Xreas now. I bought my 05 Sport V-8 4x4 used, and i did not know about Xreas until i came here.

I have on question, i asume that the rear springs can carry more weight. The reason i ask is since i tow a toyhauler about once a month, and the rear sags right now.

The OME rear is substantially more beefy than the stock rear, especially the rear coils. More so than in the front. It was designed to carry more weight than stock.

so these springs/shocks were designed for the Prada 120? Are there any substantial weight differences or front/rear balance between the Prada 120 and our 4th gens?

OK, I think I answered my own question.
I found the V6 Prado 120 weighs in at 2110 KG (4651 lbs.)
the V6 Runner SE weighs 4325 lbb., and the V8 Runner SE weighs 4530 lbs., the LE V8 weighs in about 4550 lbs. (all 2005 ).

My estimation is that the V8 is slightly heavier in the front than the 120 V6 and the 120 is slightly heavier than the 4RUnner (both V6 and 8) in the back. Probably 100-200 lbs each way.

Just batch reply here:

Yeah Pierre, the 120 has alot of the weight and extra leverage off the back. So now I will be riding better with more weight instead of the opposite, which makes me very, very happy

Andries added the toytec spacer b/c the V8 is a heavy sucker and he figured at least a 1/4" lower than me w/o it. You can go w/o but it will just be a bit lower.

I wouldn't get OME HD's unless you have a bullbar and armor. I think it would be a rather jarring ride- doesn't sound too enjoyable.

You know, they have OME Regular too. I don't have the part # off hand but call Ben at Sleeoffroad. (883/894rear I think) From what I read this yields approx 25-30mm lift but increased capacity for those wanting to stay at near-stock height.

No clue, all ARB says is low pressure nitrogen. WHatever that means.

Andries, load that thing up and wheel it. I'm curious to see how much your springs relax after tooling it around.

I'm definitely looking in that direction as well as a few other ways to get where i want to be.

Oh, could you be more specific about the difficulties with the rear, is it fitment, size, brakelines or ???

Thanks again.

doesn't the 4th gen have a similar upper front coilpack mounting plate as the 3rd gens and tacos?

if so, some of the top spacers that I have would probally work.

anybody want to be the guniea pig?

i'll cut you a VERY good deal on a pair to try them out, but you have to install them ASAP and take measurements since the 4th gen suspension geometry may be different from the 3rd gens.

i'll even send the set out for free and let you pay me AFTER they're installed. if they don't work, then just send them back and no harm done...

oh, FYI, these spacers are universal and will fit 3rd gen 4runners, Tacomas, and Tundras. if they'll fit the 4th gen runners, then they'll also fit the new 5th gen tacos as well.

they're 3/8" thick and give 1/2" lift on the old suspension setups...

I think Lance mentioned the 4th gen is different and not compatible Andy. Can you make custom ones if we give you measurements tho?

Oh if you can make custom ones, PM or email me!

What was the model number of the trim packers (front and rear) that you ordered?

Also, did you ever put the fronts in?

FirstToy,

Is there any rubbing of front coils with the sway bar when the steering is completely turned, combined with extreme downward flex of the front wheels e.g. during off road. I noticed a scar on your coilover picture, where I thought the spring may be touching the sway bar under the above condition. I checked the spot in my own 2003 4runner and found the gap was indeed rather small (original factory setup).
