I got an OME lift with 884’s in the front and 895’s in the rear. What I was trying to say earlier is during installation I installed the 884’s in front and then dropped the front end to see how much lift I got with OME as opposed to RevTek before I started to install the 895’s in the rear. It was just an observation Gents.

So you're just saying that you had OME in the front and Revtek in the rear? Or are you saying that you had OME on one side and Revtek on the other?

Sorry, just trying to understand what you're saying.

No, Pushing down on the top a-arm pushes down on the steering knuckle which in turn pushes down the lower a-arm. This increases the gap between the upper shock mount which is fixed and the lower shock mount which is on the lower a-arm. Take a look at the assembly on your 4runner and you should be able to see what i am talking about. Hope this helps.

Rocky, as far as my vehicle looking like it was popping a wheelie, it really looked like it was bogged down in the back when I compared OME in the front and RevTek in the rear. After I installed the 895’s in the rear my vehicle leveled out fine. See, I thought my rear wouldn’t change much after I lowered my front end with 884’s to the ground with the RevTek still in the rear. There were no intentions of me leaving my RevTek spacers in the rear. It was just an observation dude. I should’ve measured my vehicle before I installed my RevTek 6 months ago to have a reference of how much lift difference with OME. All I can say is my vehicle seems to sit significantly higher with OME than with the RevTek lift. I hope this clear things up.

Yeah, I just wondered if something went wrong during the install because it shouldn't have been that extreme. The Revtek kit gives 3" front, 2.5" rear. The OME kit gives around the same.

Maybe I embellished a bit about the wheelie and all. Sorry for the confusion Rocky and bdh123.

The Revtek web page only mentions 2" lift for the rear, using part #431 for 4th gen 4runners. I got this confirmed from some dealers too. Which part # are you referring to?

Oh, and the small fact that I ran the Revtek kit and did indeed get 2.5" of lift in the rear.

This thread is about the OME lift. The point was that there is no reason the OME kit should be that much more lift than the Revtek kit.

Have you gone out with bulldog and FirstToy and those guys yet? They keep inviting you out to go see these kits in action. Get out there!

Just some bullet points of clarification:

OME trim packers are designed to level your truck side to side IF your truck is leaning AFTER it is installed and settled in.

There is no OME trim packer that fits the rear coils of the 4Runner.

The rear shocks of the Prado 120 and 4Runner are DIFFERENT applications. Therefore, you need to have the proper OME washer which the Prado kit does not contain.

You need to make sure you have properly installed suspension to make good on your investment.

Just a small point of clarification, the washer that has caused alot of discussion is not unique to OME. Their washer is the exact size & fitment as the factory Toyota washer for the FJ/FZJ-80's and are readily available from a local dealer individually.

As far as trim packers go, my Toyota and OME front coilover experience (Tacomas) has taught me that a 5mm preload hurts nothing, and furthermore helps with some of the initial settling. Generally, with no additional modifications, this will be sufficient for a long time. Obvioulsy, modifications and use can dramatically change the characteristics of a spring.

You are correct in that adding trim packers should be used after it is apparent settling is occuring unevenly.

OME does provide a trim packer that works for the rear. We have chosen to include it for future use of the owner should it be needed.

I'm posting to inform people of my whole experience-and that's all. If anyone thinks my statements are inaccurate, they can ignore my posts. I'm not posting to create internet drama.

??? When we installed my kit, the trim packer you had wouldn't work/fit the rear ... now there are some that do? How can I order this new part? I needed one!

Thanks!

If you dont mind my asking, why did/do you need a rear spacer?

it's not a rear spacer, it's just a tiny piece of plastic or something in order to help level out the vehicle from side to side.

Chris or Phil - how can I order one?

Is your truck not sitting level in the rear with a half tank of gas? (I chose half cause I figure thats splitting the difference between empty and full... :-)

Actually, even on empty it sits a biit less than level. Always has, with every lift, and I've used trim packers before, but the company that made them (not OME) made me hesitant to continue using them a long time ago.

Mines still stock and I measured last night on empty and tonight full. It was about .5" high on the driver rear on empty and level full; and level up front both times (without a driver of course ;-).

well ... i can't explain it ... i just know that there are many 4th gen. owners who end up buying/making some type of trim packer to level things out.

glad yours is level!

i have some work to do on the truck soon, i'll be sure to take measurements again.

Well if it makes you feel any better, my driver's side rear is .5" lower than the passenger side. The front is dead even, however. Please note, this was the also the case with my Daystar + stock springs lift as well, so the difference is not just with the OME lift.

Considering that I've been perfectly happy with the "lean" of the truck over the past 35k+ miles, I'm not going to worry about it.

Steve

If it's the rear trim packer you are advertising, no it does not work. OME doesn't have anything that fits the 4Runner currently.
