HI everyone,
Here is my issue, I have an 06 access cab 6 speed base model and it seems like most of the time when i try to start the engine it makes a few clicking noises and then eventually fires up after 3-5 seconds of holding the key in the start position. It never used to take this long to start the engine even at -30. and the truck only has 90 000 kms.

Has anyone else had a similar problem? At first i thought it was an Air fuel ratio sensor (P2197) but then after replacing the sensor it got better for a few days now its doing it again.

i m going to change the plugs next and see if that makes a difference.

Wait soo... is the engine turning over or are you just hearing clicking? And then after a few clicks in turns over and starts?

 

its not turning over untill 3-5 seconds after i turn the key and hold it. and its making clicking noses before it cranks over.

 

Clean battery terminals really good get a wire brush and clean em good.

 

hmm its an 06 and its having problems? interesting.

 

ok well I tried cleaning the terminals and it didn't make a difference.... anybody else have any suggestions? thanks

 

It does that no matter what you do? Even if you cycle the off and on?

 

May have to start looking at the starter... and fuel pressure
