2007 Sport Edition (Just Purchased)
Good morning! I just purchased another 4Runner to add to the collection and here are some pics after I installed the 2" IronMan FJ Kit. I added a 5/8" spacers to the bottom of the front shock housing for some extra clearance.
I actually netted 3" in the front and 2.75" on the rear... but I had to do some serious fender trimming in the front to clear the 285/75 Mudders! I used all the factory hardware to keep the trim-job as factory looking as possible. I also gutted the entire XREAS system since I went with a true suspension lift. I'm going to write an official build sheet on the progress so far, but here are a few pics in interim that I took during the installation.
The way she looked the day I bought it - 7/27/13
2" IRONMAN FJ 4X4 (with spacer). I also removed the OEM (and fairly new) 13.3" rotors and 13WH calipers to install some new 12.5" rotors and 13WL calipers (2007 FJ conversion), so I could fit my other 16" SR5 rims from my '99 Limted T4R. The factory rims are 17" on the Sport Edition.
Oh, yeah... I Line-X'd the entire wheel well and tossed in some AllPro 1.25" spacers for good measure, too.
Here's a quick shot of the inner fender-well trimming. I used the OEM hardware and drilled all new holes to get a better fit. I gained 3" of inner clearance on both sides by belt-sanding a 45 deg agle right across the factory fender. The tire was almost pressed against the fender before the trimming!!
The rear lift, shock and spacer installion. Pretty basic install for the rear...
And we'll jump to the end - I know it's a driveway poser pic, but I just got it finished last night and haven't had a chance to get it dirty yet.
These are the OEM SR5 rims from my '99 Limited, cause I switched those out a few years for some Tacoma rims. I sand blasted, sprayed them with Metallic Gunmetal and cleared with a gloss clear.
Here's a shot of the old girl for good measure! I bought the Limited brand new in 1999, lifted it with a 3" OME Lift and put on some 285/75 Dakota M/T's. I love these tires and I'm using them again on the 2007 Sport Edition.
I've had 13 great years of off-roading with the '99 and it's still my favorite T4R of the 6 that I've owned - so far!
The 1.25" body lift goes on the Sport next weekend, but I hope you like the looks of the new girl so far!!
