We have a 2004 4Runner SR5.


In the last month or so, right behind the center dash where the stereo controls are, a sound like a chirping bird starting to occur. This then started to alternate between the chirping bird and a grinding type noise.


A couple days ago, it started buzzing right when the car was turned on, but only for about 10 seconds before going back to the chirping sound. I tend to think it might be related to the climate sensor or something on the air conditioner.


Any ideas what this might be?

 

Same here with my 04 4Runner Sport. Probably the air mix damper servo. It's a known issue. For me it was just a nusiance, now I somehow only have heat on the passenger side, from any vent, while driver side always blows cold AC, and I DON'T have dual climate controls.
