I just bought my four-runner. It has 95,000 miles on the V-8 motor. In my mind, it's due for a transmission filter change. I found a kit at my local Autozone store but decided to do a little homework before proceeding. I called my local Toyota dealer and was told that filters are not changed; instead a tranny flush must be done by the dealer at the 120,000 mile point at a cost of $120. I would like some opinions. If this is the case, why would Autozone make a filter kit? $31 for the kit is a much cheaper alternative.
