'05 4Runner 150k miles engine power

A couple of days ago I hit the gas hard to make it up a muddy hill and was pretty disappointed. The vast majority of my driving is easy on the gas highway miles (not gunning it, etc). I've got 150k+ miles on the truck and I have done very little over the years other than gas and regular oil changes.

What do I need to do to bring my baby back up to speed?

Also, I'm considering selling it and getting something newer. I'm also considering keeping it and "jacking it up".. i think best I'm going to get is $6-7k due to the mileage and it's worth more than that to me cause I know they are easy miles. I'm going to start looking around the forum for ideas but what are the first few things to do with a completely stock 05 runner, v8, AWD beauty??

But what about getting my power back!?!?

start with a basic check out and tune up; plugs, air filter, maybe fuel filter, and maybe run some sort of fuel cleaner through the system to help clean off any carbon that might be built up internally

I like to use Seafoam in an engine to help clean out the carbon. You simply suck half the can in through the brake booster vacuum line.

It makes A LOT of smoke so forewarn your neighbors.

Most commonly people dont realize they are regular old 30,000 mile plugs. Pull the plugs, check gap and condition.

Agreed that seafoam is good
