01 Taco coil overs on an 06 Taco
This may be a stupid question but... has anyone ever done any research to see what specifically is the difference between say a 2001 generation Tacoma and 2006 generation Tacoma coil over?
The reason I ask is, I have the chance to get a set of NICE, brand new looking SwayAway Race Runner coil overs for dirt cheap (through work), and everything I can dig up shows the same 13" shock length, 650lb coil rating, and they apparently come in a 2.0" or 2.5" for either generation (I'm not sure which these are yet). The only difference I can imagine is possibly the upper mount, and that's what I'm most curious about. The P/N's for the coilovers on SwayAway's web site are only 1 number off; the last number after a dash; 96-04's are 52000-108-5 and 05+ are 52000-108-20, so I can imagine that 5 and 20 at the ends must be the difference in the mountings, OR, SwayAway is just trying to get away with selling the same exact product for two different generation trucks and just slapping a different number on the back and saying they're different maybe the 20 was next in line to use when the 05's came out and they figured they would list them separately from the 96-04's
Worse comes to worse, I can yank a stock coil over off an 05+ Tacoma at work and compare them side by side, or even see if these Race Runner's will fit in their place. But I figured I'd see if someone else had maybe been down this road once before.

well after some quick comparing today at work, 05+ strut assemblies are actually about 2" longer (eyeballing it) than than the previous generation... going to contact SwayAway and see if maybe they use the same strut with just a different top mount
