winch and winch mounting
So i found a winch and its a smittybilt 8000lb. i want to place this on my 1994 pickup, but i also want to put a bull bar on as well. i was wandering which bull bar would fit my truck, and allow me to install the winch. i know there are the bumpers that cost $700 with the winch mounting included, but i dont want to pay that much. any ideas?
thanks,
Will

Don't 'wander' too far, not until that winch is mounted anyway.
I really like this one, not so much a bull bar, but it's pretty snazzy...

i wouldnt recommend your typical bull bar for mounting a winch...its like mounting one on a brush guard, the mounting system for the bull bar just isn't strong enough. most people use a whole new bumper designed to accept a winch but there are those who have chopped up their stock bumper and mounted a winch behind it on a crossmember that they welded across the front of the frame rails. regardless, you want to keep the winch as close (vertically) to the frame rails as possible and try to mount directly to the frame/crossmember. im sure someone will pipe in with their nifty ideas/experiences
