im thinking of putting chevy 1500 buckets and center consol in mine, then putting the bench in the bed, bolting it down, putting a seat belt, and WHALA.. can fit more people.

Yes, the celica seats sit lower than the stock bench. I would like to get them up higher but then I need longer bolts in the thread pattern that I could not find. If anyone finds these bolts let me know!
I modified the front feet by bending them up and grinding off the spikes on the bottom side of the seat tracks. The first seat took the longest. Once I had the general shapes and locations to drill holes in my brackets I made a second set (symetrical not a copy) and put it all together.

The previous owner of my truck put in bucket seats. He welded his own custom mounting frame for each seat that sits them higher (equally as high as the bench seats.) I can still even scoot the seats forward and backwards. He did a great job installing them.

These were mine when I put them in. They're out of a 95 Pathfinder. Bolted right up for the most part. I had to drill one hole in the front for each seat.
$50 from the wrecker.
Rhino lined the floor at the same time.

I have buckets from the factory in the 4runner, but I did snag the drivers side out of a 95 4runner. Adjustable headrest, lumbar, sides come in or go out, and bottom of seat raises or lowers. I only got the drivers side, so now I have a brown interior with a gray bucket seat in it.

Bucket seats?
I understand about the ratty old bench seat issue. I just bought a 1986 2wd long bed pickup and it came with a bench seat. gotta go.....
I went online and searched craigslist and found a set of buckets from a 1991 Acura Integra. They're very comfortable and will require minor mounting fabrication.
