Where to get a GOOD new CatConverter???

A cheap aftermarket cat will get you past smog once. After that, it is junk.
You can test your cat with a tempture heat gun. The pipe going out of the cat should be hotter then the pipe going in. If it is not, then it is a good chance the cat is dead.

#23884 is the Magnaflow cat I got on ebay new.
The HC is the test that failed.
For the 15mph it was 229ppm, max allowable 118ppm.
The 25mph was 97ppm, max allowable 98ppm, so barely passed that.
All other emissions were far under limits.
This is a catalytic issue most likely right? Plugs/cap/rotor/wires/Denso O2 sensor are about a year old.
I blocked off the EGR, is that affecting it?

Sounds like you're running rich off idle and once the ECU goes closed loop it cleans up.

This is the website i bought my Catalytic Converter from: http://www.hottexhaust.com/Catalytic_Converters.htm
I personally got this one(http://www.hottexhaust.com/detail.asp?PRODUCT_ID=53005) for my 22r and have absolutely no complaints at all!

Lsv1Steve. Hook the EGR back up. Its probably your EGR. Then if you pass ur emission test then you can block it off or do what ever to it. This year I have to do this, but the last time I smog with my egr block off, it passed. weird though. I don't know if the guy is screwing me but all I care is that it passed... I also use the G2P so I don't know if that help either...

I have failed the sniffer with the EGR blocked off with another truck, Hooked it back up and it passed with flying colors.
I run a single high flow Magnaflow cat in place of the two stock cats on my bronco, and it fly's through the sniffer with out a worry.

I really doubt if it's your cat causing this, Sounds like you have a misfire somewhere or possibly an leaky injector. I have used the generic cats before & they work just fine as long as your engine is running/tuned properly. I have a cheapo cat on my truck & it passes like new.
