The 3.0 is a revver and it will NOT meet an early demise because someone uses it's full RPM band.
Low in the RPM band is lugging when the motor isn't efficient in that part of the rpm range. I'm glad yours is working well, though!

Nah, running around on level territory and not in a hurry it runs fine shifting at 2k. It just puts along smoothly. But put your foot in it (even a little) at that rpm or try to pull a hill, sure - unhappy motor. GW knows how to drive, never fear.

The 3.0 is more like a marathon runner than a sprinter. I have 275,000 on the original engine, and it still has a lot of life left. Plus I live above 6000 ft, so it might not have a lot of power, butwhat ever it has, it wont lose it for a long time if your lucky.

I think I'm a "moderate" as far as this discussion goes. I usually shift between 2600-3000 RPM's for the most part. Sometime's I'll push 3000 RPM's if I need the power for merging or whatever, but I don't see 4000 RPM's very much, and the few times I have pushed past 4000 RPM's just to see what would happen really made me feel like it was a waste of time as far as trying to gain power. There have been times on the higway doing around 75 MPH where you're around 3000-3200 RPM's and this engine seems unstoppable - probably because it's close to the torque peak of the engine.
