OK...so on my buick 3.8L There is a rubber hose that goes from the valve cover into the bottom of the air filter. BUT now that im running my custom snorkel, theres no where for that hose to go...Whats that hose for? And what happens if its not connected into anything? My truck seems to run mine.

it is a pvc, positive crankcase ventilation. it lets the engine blow by go back into the intake. it shouldn't affect performance, i wouldn't block it off, put a breather on it or something. must still vent. snorkel, what kind?

I could out a breather on it, like one of those real small cone filters. You know what I mean? As for a snorkel..this is what I have SO FAR...(excuse the horrible engine bay lol im redoing it soon)

If it's no longer connected to the intake, there is no longer the positive part of the ventilation. It is just a vent, not a positive vent. There is a good reason the engineers have a PCV and not just a CV. Without the P the crank case can buildup sludge and the sticky stuff can ruin your engine.

Positive ventilation is the same as active ventilation or in other words, forced ventilation. The intake sucks the crank gases out, or forces more out than would otherwise get out on its own. Those gases cause sludge (bad) so you want them out. If you disconnect the hose from the intake you no longer have suction pulling the gases out (bad).

Hm ok...when the hose is just open ended, i can see smoke coming out of it. So your saying when its hooked into the intake, the intake sucks out more smoke and bad stuff?(lamens terms) lol

No. it wont seal, it will obstruct the air flow, and is a very lazy way out.just buy a hose fitting and put in in there. They are available at any hardware store.
