My daily driver (1st and 2nd picture) has 33x12.50s, my other trucks all have 31x10.50s. All are BFG A/Ts. I'm waiting for the new BFG M/Ts to hit a local store around here.

Just added my pro comp bar and some Hella's to my front. I got a safari rack going on too, but I have to mod the mounting brackets. So I'll post pics soon. Here's a "for now" pic.

I've heard that before! Mainly from the guys who want to scoop it up at the stealership as soon as I drive off!

I actually purchased this after I bought and sold an '06 Doublecab Tacoma 4X4 w/ the 4.0. I liked the look of the truck and didn't owe squat, but the gas mileage was absolutley horrendous. I got about 13-14 city/17 highway. A far cry from the 17 and 21 listed on the sticker!

With the 4runner I'm getting 15ish city and 18 highway. Admittedly I did rebuild the engine but I do run 33, 12.50s on 15s. Oh yeah, it's got over 215K on it. Less than 2K on the rebuild.

Next is new exhaust to help her breath and all new fuel lines becuase they are starting to rust!

Let me ask you a question. Can you explain the gear thing for me? What is stock and what is the advantages of going up and down in ratios?

This is my daily driver and gas mileage is somewhat important...what do you think I should go with?

I was wondering the same thing the other day

I cant explain it very good there a some people here that are much more knowledgeable than I about the gears pertaining to MPG. its all in what you want.

the 4runner came with different gears than the trucks when they were automatic I know the 4.37 or maybe the 4.35 were the most rugged one you can get from Toyota
Do a search is the best advice i can give ya sorry bud

Hey, Clos88runner....nice truck, but how about not double posting and muckin up the thread with gear questions. If you have something to ask, so ask it out in the forum. Keep the thread clean, more pics and less blah blah...know what I mean.

This thread is great for first gen runners....Toyota should be proud...lol.

I NEVER liked this era Toyota until i bought mine...now I LOVE it. I always wanted the one step newer gen, but I am hooked on these first gen's now. They look awesome when their done right. People LOVE my truck, I get compliments all the time. Lets see some more!!!
