The bar I love cause its old school and it was free (sitting in a friends garage for 10 years) and its easy to use. Im working on a wiring solution that allows for removing the light bar easily whether I have the soft or hard top on and passes through the hard top as I do not want to drill in metal.

I think the Photobucket account of that pic has pics of the rest of the article in it.
There are more pics of Ivan and the truck in the article.
The Ivan 4Runner was a hybrid truck.
Note that it has 5 studs on the wheels and that the front has .... TTB
YES - its 2WD...
The engine is a 302 Ford V8.
The 4Runner body is stuck on a Ranger "PreRunner".
He never raced the truck. It WAS his primary PreRunner until Toyota started making BIG buck investments in racing (about the time they made the 3.0L single seat racer truck for him in the early 90's) and then he used a LC for the pre-runner.
The truck was SOLD (via Baja Brokers - at one time I had a copy of the classified ad from Dusty Times) in the mid/late 90s.
I heard it went to Mexico.
Id I ever get around to getting my 4Runner to "death runner" state - thats the paint scheme Im thinking of using... but with a white tailgate....

First off - T100 4WD was lauched in what - 93??
I still recall the old alt.rec.4x4 and the "West Cost Off Road" "invention" of the original LT IFS setup using the T100 axles.
So it was not unitl 95-96 that the LT bolt on configuration was avail.
Big "KING" type coil overs were not that common on non buggy type trucks in the mid/late 80s... and shock tech was not where near where it is today.
Back in those days - multiple monotube (aka Bilstien as they had a patent on em) was about as high tech as it got.
Todays "bolt on" tech (62" deavers, remot res shocks, LT coil over front) was more high tech than alot of "race" trucks of that era.

Yeah, my 3.0 is a little tired. It would run superb, but it has compression loss in one cylinder due to what I suspect is bent valves. The guy I bought it from said he just replaced the timing chain (belt?...haven't gotten into these motors yet), and I then asked did it break or did you just replace it. He said it broke, and had the miss afterwards so...pretty clear bent valves. I'm gonna do a leakdown, because it's starting to get a little worse and it's the #2 cylinder so...might be fixing time.
4Lo goes like a beast though, and I manage to get 60-65 in 4th down the road, so I deal with it.

FYI 3.0's can't bend valves from breaking a timing belt.
Mine broke new belt and she was gooood.

alt.rec.4x4 was back in the day BEFORE the wold wide web actually WORKED, there were text only types of forums. In those days alt.rec.4x4 was the equivalent to YotaTech.
This is circa 1994-1995
Many of that group of Toyota enthusists later went to found 4x4wire, Pirate4x4 and other bboards (Jay Kopynski, etc)...
Im OLD...

Mmmm Pictures:
This is my daily driver
Doin a little "urban" flexing. Don't worry, the owner was behind me when I was taking pictures and thought it was awsome
Both of my 88s
87 with Rhino-liner
This is what my first 88 looked like when I used to go to db drags. It had over 100 lights, 2000 watts, and 2 Kicker 15L7s. Thankfully that stage has passed with high school and it's ready for a SAS. Just got done putting a new long block in it fro LC Engineering and rebuilding the tranny.
