So it looks like there is room at the top around here. Anyone with a little cash and time can plot a takeover and have the best 4runner of this gen on the board it seems to me. ::motivational::

Those look like pretty nice tires.... Don't know about that front bumper...I think I might be goin black on that one. Anyway though, I notice you mention not wanting to regear yet. My ▓▓▓▓▓ struggles a little with 35's. I mean, I get around, and yeah 4low is beast, but the crawl could be better. Plus, I can't really even use 5th gear except for down hills.

You have the V6 or the 4?

 

Yeah, the part about the gears... I'm just poor and that would be last on my list of things to do (for right now.) I wanna build my SAS first, then worry about stuff like that. Right now, it wheels fine. I'm runnin 34's for tire size, and they grip like a dream. I've got the front locked, so that helps too. I don't drive it very often, usually to the trail and back, so I'm not too worried about the gearing just yet. Oh, and I am running the 3. V6. Hopefully (when I get the money,) I will be doing the 4.3 Vortec or a 350 swap. Money is the big issue. Oh well. Oh yeah, about the bumper. I'm gonna do an entire roll cage/tube fender/rear bumper system that is all the same color. I like the Kawasaki look, the main black with green offset. I want to paint the main body gloss black or flat back. Anyway, I've wrote enough, I'm out. Beer and a movie await me!

 

For me, the 5.29's can wait. I must have a strong motor because the only real difference I see is hills on the highway. Around town and flat freeway is no problem. I don't suffer from 5th gear fantasy, maybe it's the cam and exhaust. I can run 75mph in 5th gear as long as there are no hills.
I am going to buy the 4.7 transfer case gears next because my crawl sucks ass. After that I'll add a second case, then 5.29's.

Yeah, my 3.0 is a little tired. It would run superb, but it has compression loss in one cylinder due to what I suspect is bent valves. The guy I bought it from said he just replaced the timing chain (belt?...haven't gotten into these motors yet), and I then asked did it break or did you just replace it. He said it broke, and had the miss afterwards so...pretty clear bent valves. I'm gonna do a leakdown, because it's starting to get a little worse and it's the #2 cylinder so...might be fixing time.

4Lo goes like a beast though, and I manage to get 60-65 in 4th down the road, so I deal with it.
