What oil should i be running !!!!!
Hey there everyone, another issue i have.... but i know you all can help me.
I just got my 94SR5, 5spd Auto with 222,000km on it last week.
I simply would like to know, what type of oil i should be running in an engine of this mileage....

Whatever floats your boat. Some will tell you synthetic (me), others will tell you regular. Just depends on what you feel like. I would still feel comfortable using synthetic at that mileage, but it's up to you.
But, you should get a lot of responses...

I use Castrol high mileage 10w 30 in my truck. I used to work for midas and do the oil changes. I like the High mileage for a piece of mind, that i might be getting something good. Also the HM and GTX are the same. Just a different label

redline synthetic
since I switched to redline synthetic for all fluids I have seen great differences in all aspects.
definitely redline synthetic oil in your truck!
PS. if you have a manual transmission-
MT-90 transmission fluid in particular revived my clutch to such an extent that it feels like new.

Don't laugh but I've been running plain old wally world 10w-30 in my rig for the pask 100k with no problems. I think its a waste of money to spend anymore if you religiously change the oil every 3k.

At operating temperature, you should be at 10psi (or so) per 1000 rpm.
Should always use a 0W-xx or 5W-xx.

i feel like 10-30 is pretty much the standard. however when the summer hits i do change to 20-50 because of the heat and the leakage.
i wanted to get the gtx "high mileage" but that didnt work with my coupon
so i said f it and just got the normal castrol.

10W-40 Castrol synthetic, and I'm now hooked on the STP Oil Treatment.
I also cut open and inspect my oil filters. From my observations of fine metal particulate or lack-there-of, I've proven to myself the effectiveness of that oil and EP additive combo. Also, NO MOBIL 1!!!!!!!!!!!!! I about had a heart attack when I ran that crud for 4000 miles and then seen the fine silvery flakes of my engine parts collected in the filter element. I don't even wanna talk about it no more....bad stuff.
