Walker Quietflow SS
#24
I have a stainless long tube header, no cats and a Thrush welded muffler. I still need to finish up the exhaust cause its just kinda a temporary setup, hard to tell any increase yet. Gonna do some Aurora plug wires and some ignition mods then I'll really be able to compare it to last summer.

BTW, using shore.runner's loudness scale of 1 - 5, mine is at least a 6. I constantly get looks and everyone always say they hear me coming down the street.
I'm seriously considering going back to my stock exhaust and selling my downey gear to someone much younger and more tolerant of a loud exhaust system.

To answer your question, yes. I have the Downey CAI, header and 2.5" exhaust (magnaflow) on an otherwise factory drive train and stock wheels. My mileage increase by 1.5 - 2.5 mpg on highway drives.

So, it has been four years, and it is time for a new muffler.
The Dynomax rusted out at the flange. I can't seem to find a 2.25" walker quietflow to fit the LCE exhaust. Any suggestions? No, I will not buy a dynomax again.

shore runner....aside from the Dynomax muffler rotting out on you, how was the sound after 3-4 years? I was thinking of going the super turbo route just to save a few bucks. If I can get 3-4 years out of it I will be happy.
I want one step louder from stock. If stock was a 1 and a Magnaflow dumping right out of the muffler is a 5, I'm looking for a 2 or 3.

Quiet flow muffler
as an introduction I have the 22re with an LC header to a magnaflow cat.
When stock muffler(which lasted 21 years in the Midwest bless its heart) finally went I did the dance with magnaflow. I must say I was definitely influenced by yoga tech members reviews. All I can say is that certain folks have a VERY different definition of the words loud and quiet than myself. I tried p/n 13649 which is a 6" round case and 22" body with 2" inlet/outlet ; pretty close to our stockers which are 7x21". Ran it with 2" out the back and it was pretty cool at idle but was sick of it in about 2 days. Not to mention it developed a gnarly rattle; I had mod regret, and I hate that ish because it's usually not free. Interestingly, Magnaflow won't even reply to my emails in regards to a warranty.... hmmmm anyone wanna buy 60 plus shipping???
so, solution. Go As close to stock as possible with slightly bigger pipe size.
walker sells individual ss mufflers in addition to whole assemblies. This was intended for a ford truck, but fit the bill perfect and is definitely JUST a hair over stock. My definition of "quiet".
P/n 22155 27"x 6" with 2 1/4" inlet and 2" outlet (perfect for you guys with lc headers and 2 1/4 pipe).

That may be my next step
Currently running an "old" LCE header and a semi custom Borla exhaust. The Borla muffler is "turbo" style and the packing has long burned out.
I had a supertrapp 5" custom tip on there - that helped.
I may try a 4" super trap bolt on tip muffler as a "easier" but more $$ solution

Has anyone tried the Borla Pro XS 40664 muffler on a 3.0? I have Thorley headers and stock muffler. Not wanting ricey or loud, but very mild and increased flow.

Borla Pro XS 40664 on 3VZE (3.0)
Well I went ahead and installed the Borla Pro XS 40664 on the 3.0 Runner and it sounds fantastic. Much better that the rice whine from the flowmaster IMO. Provides a nice, deeper mellow tone. You can hear it, but it isn't obnoxiously loud.
Yes I know it's an old thread, but this new muffler rocks. YES I have GAINED some additional MPG when combined with the Doug Thorley's.
