Trying to set up my front diff and. . .
I've come this far:
-Runout .002 (FSM says thats fine)
-Backlash .003 too tight so I used another shim on the ring side of the LSD and I got .008, too loose so I tried another one and I came up with .007 which is pretty close to the .0065 that was originally in there and is within FSM specs so I went with it.
-No side to side play I hope thats a good thing.
Now for the patterns. IDK if these are good or not but someone please chime in on this to let me know if they will be OK or how I should adjust things.
Does this need to be adjusted?

Sean, you have something strange going on there......the balance between drive and coast is terrible....that means the load bearing on the drive is too close to the heel(outside) while the coast side is too close to toe(inside). Excessive backlash would be one cause of this but if you are at 6.5 thou then that's as tight as you want to go.
That's a real Toyota brand gear so I know it's not a quality issue.....which makes me think that only 2 other things could cause that imbalance...
1---- loose wobbly pinion (no pre-load at all)
2----loose CBPL (does the case fall out with the flange straight up?)

Thanks Zuk you're the best
Not really sure what you mean here?
I find that hard to believe since I haven't touched it and apparently its a factory setup.
I'll check it later this week and tell you that I get. Thanks again.

With Zuk on the job anyone else giving advice is kind of pointless...
Btw, you have spent some time reading the topics on Zuk's webpage right?
Right?

Yea I've read his site. He has been very helpful so far. As for why I'm doing it myself, it would cost me twice as much to ship the diff to zuk and back as it would for him to do the work. Only a couple local shops would do the work, they all want big money and I have no knowledge of their rep. I have to time, I'm in no rush and I can learn something here.

Sean did not touch the pinion depth setting on the used gears.....he basically just swapped cases....he should maintain the original measured 6.5 thou backlash value as close as reasonably possible to maintain the same gear mesh location as before. Sometimes used gears will whistle if the backlash is much different than the original "burn-in" value.
