Thanks.. I already did the test and everything was in spec except the resistance between e2 and vs terminals, it would flash about 20 ohms and then read open loop, i tracked it down to this little thing in the afm

and goes in here under all this

into this hole

Oh my, I'm really starting to feel for you dude. Please don't say you lost your girl too.

Good luck finding small parts like that, I bet Toyota just sells that AFM as an assembly. I have no idea what that is.

BTW you took the screws out didn't you?

You should be able to find a junk yard AFM or try one of the guys parting out an engine in the classified section.

Another quick question... it seems kinda weird to me that the truck has run(extremely rich) for over 5 min, with the fuel pump unhooked... even while giving it some throttle...usually it dies after about 10-25 seconds after i unhook it...where might the fuel be coming from? was there really that much left in the chamber? Cold start injector maybe?

thanks

Unhooking? As in unplugging the power from it? It should die almost instantly because the pressure will drop to nothing. Are you sure you're unplugging the power to the pump and not the one to the sending unit?

Also, if I'm not mistaken, that little booger you pulled out of the AFM that's full of, well, crap for lack of a better word, is the air temp sensor. Unfortunately, I don't believe you can purchase them separately, only because it's built into the AFM which is considered non-serviceable. If you sweet talk the guys at the stealership, then maybe, but very unlikely, lol.

I've filled two of these things full of muddy water and replaced both because that little thing got clogged, I tried to clean it, and I ended up breaking it...

Just one more though; here's what I personally would do. Look on eBay, not for the AFM, but for other used parts off a truck similar with close year and same motor size, then ask the seller if he has one. That's how I got both of mine for about $30 a piece!

^ thanks for the tip...yeah, i figured out it was the air temp sensor, by the code 24 im now getting( at least now my ecm is working properly) and am going to get a whole new air box with hoses and afm today($15..wooohooo). I'm pretty sure i unplugged the fuel pump(little hole under rear pass. seat) and in the past when servicing fuel system, the same plug worked for me, if it was just the sending unit, my fuel guage wouldnt work right? i'm thinking maybe pressure in the tank is pushing the fuel through? running out of ideas!!

also, I did notice last time, even though the truck died with it unplugged, the cold start injector still had pressure (it sprayed gas all over the place) but the truck was also warm at that point...dunno if it makes a difference or not.

Well the cold start injector's feed line branches right off the rail for the main injectors, so if it still had pressure, the hole system does, but it shouldn't keep spraying for more than a few seconds, especially if the truck's warmed up...

I'd start off throwing that new AFM in and see where it stands. Good find for $15 btw!

so put the afm in, and still runs the same...started out great, then 5 sec into it...back rough/low idle, and stalls at WOT, or even 1/2 for that matter...but still running, even tho fuel pump has no power???? maybe ecm is junk?

reconnected fuel, and wont start, disconnected again, and after a few cranks, she fired up...same...where is all this extra fuel coming from? could my coil not be putting out enough juice? igniter maybe? back to the forums to do more searching...
