Transmission Question

Hey guys,

So the W56-B in my 4runner has been on its way out for the last few months (Long story). Well tonight on my way to class it finally gave up the ghost. My future father in law has a toyota pickup that is either an 84 or 85 (waiting on a text back to figure out which), so from my research the donor truck has either the G52 or G54 trans in it. Will either of those transmissions swap into my truck ( 86 4runner, 22RE, W56-B ) ? If anyone knows or has experience in this matter please speak up, if this trans will swap in it'll be free!! Im trying to get this info as quick as possible so i can get a new clutch and hydraulics ordered. Thanks in advance for any advice or help!!

It will swap over, I would keep the transfer case that is on the parts truck with it as well.

OK, so I know i'm really late to replying. Here's what happened. I wound up buying a rebuilt W56b from a buddy of mine with around 500 miles or so on the rebuild. Everything went great and I replaced the clutch, master/slave cylinder, starter, rear main, everything else. I got the truck back on the road and all was good until a couple weeks ago. The new trans grenaded itself one night. I got it pulled out and drained the oil, along with the oil was multiple pieces of broke gear teeth. So i'm back in my original situation, can not find another W56B anywhere in Arkansas and cant afford one from marlin. I can find rebuild kits all day long that contain bearings and seals, but no replacement gears. So if I cant salvage the gears needed out of my original trans I'm SOL on the W56... I can still obtain the G Series trans from my father in law. My questions are 1) Why do you say to keep the transfer case out of the donor truck? 2) Can I use my current transfer case if I buy the block off plate from marlin? 3) Will the new clutch and hydraulics I installed work with the G series trans?

Thanks in advance for the help!!!
