Transmission oil cooler system
Doing a 5 speed transmission swap (w56) on my 1987 4Runner. Everything's ready to go and I'm ready to put tranny in. Now that the automatic is out I can pull out and no longer need the transmission oil cooler system? Am I going to need to plug where the lines ran to the radiator?

Once all the fluid drains out, just cap off the ports on the rad...
I'm interested in hearing about your swap. Did you get an entire parts rig or just the parts needed? I'm considering doing this same thing to my 89 with a bad (auto) trans but trying to figure out which vehicles are compatible is difficult. 89 has the cable driven speedo so not sure what all would need to be done if my donar is from a later year. Good luck!

You really do not need a parts rig. The hardest part for you would probably be finding the pedal assembly. Other than that the rest is easy and relatively cheap. I bought everything brand new except pedal assembly and tranny.
Master cylinder-13$
Slave cylinder-4$
Clutch lines-5$
Pedal assembly-30$
Clutch kit-80$
I think that's everything.. And then of course finding a transmission. Look for w56 that came out of rig older than 92. 92 is when they started electronic speedos. Hope this helps you flyer!!

Thanks for the reply. I'm hearing I need wiring harness', ECU, etc. Also prob driveshaft lengths different. My situation different than yours though with a V6 and auto...
Thanks for the tip on the speedo!

I know for 22re I don't need to change ecu or harness (will have to do some splicing to get reverse and 4x4 light to work) and idk why it would be any different for v6! You are correct about drivelines tho. I forgot to mention that. You're gonna want to look for an r150 or r151f transmission. I'd go with the 151.. I do not know if the speedo sending units are universal like the w56 so it'd be best to be sure to ask seller if it's cable driven
