tranny swap, clutch options?
folks: i am getting ready to swap the OE W56 tranny on my 4Runner for a R151F. My understanding is that it is a direct swap using the R bell housing. I think there is no clutch replacement necessary, but does any one know of potential clutch upgrades that I should consider at this point? I can probably get plenty of more mileage out of the current clutch, but I would consider upgrades if the benefits weighed out, since I don't plan to get in there again anytime soon. thanks for your input.

the R151F uses a bigger clutch setup. When I swapped my W56 for the Turbo trans, I used a LC engineering dual friction clutch....too stiff for street driving IMO, but a stage 2 clutch should work the same. Just be sure you get a flywheel for a turbo truck, or a 93-95 truck. They used a 9 1/4 clutch, instead of the 8 7/8 clutch that the non-turbo (thru 92) trucks used.
