Yeah it was either this or long travel, but there were a few thongs I didn't like about long travel. Makes you much wider, not as good as a solid front for the terrain I wheel on and at the end of the day it's still IFS.

Subscrizzled, 'cuz i want to see Brian pull off a Rear IFS eliminator Kit...haha.

And Ian, i like thongs, just sayin.
IFS only gives you more clearance when static, plant a wheel on a rock and your diff doesn't move like a solid axle will.
I am going to link my rear, then sas the front.

I'm rootin for you Brian, now get some pics up and start cutting.

i don't know if he's doing it himself, or if he's having someone else do the work. i mean, he hasn't even welded his sliders on yet

seriously, i want to see this thing roll out into rausch creek on some black trails

(i know about the whole static-dynamic clearance issues. my preference is still lt-ifs)

I like IFS, it definitely has its function.

And as far as black trails go...he better be figuring a locker with this drive-train upgrade. Not to mention gears in both thirds. Dirve-shaft lengthen x2, longer brake lines, LSPV elimination, high-steer kit, wheel spacers(for the front), OR use the IFS hubs, knuckle rebuild kit, better rebuild the rear also. new anchors(brakes) on all 4 corners(bigger meats, better brakes)...i think that is it.

I wonder how complete those kits really are?

-Aussie locker
-4.88's
-rear shorter drive shaft cause of dual cases
-kit comes with brake lines
-comes with spacers
-comes with a rebuild kit
-i have T100 front brakes

I think I know who is doing it.

From what I read and what I decided to do with mine is 3 " kit front and 4" kit rear (rear leaf swap cuz my 93 has rear coils). I read through the builds in the SAS section to get the info and opinions that I was looking for.

If you saw Pete's truck, he has the 5"HD springs on his rig in the front and the rear is linked. If you are staying with the 22RE, you are good with the 3"/4" or 4"/5" set up. From what others have posted about the 3" springs, they give you more than 3" of lift. If you are going to swap in a 3.4 at some point, may want to go with the taller springs to compensate for the additional weight.

Did you find someone to do your drive shafts yet?

TG had their IFS kits at $999 a few months ago, but of course I didn't have the money and they are now back at $1199. I'll be ordering from the Wabbit once I get the money together, unless TG does that sale again.

3" should be fine in the front. i can clear 37s with my setup. get a 4" in the rear since you have a 4runner. although my wheelbase is 7" longer than stock, so my axle is moved pretty far forward. my only advice is measure 3 times, cut and weld once.

pic of how far my axle is

Brian,
the Aussie Locker is the same principle as a LokRite, oe Detroit Locker? If so, be aware of the characteristics of driving on wet roadways or snowy/icey streets. Because of where we live, i think you would be better off getting an ARB or Yukon Zip Locker since you already have air. But, that's your call.
Do you have a front axle already?

Ian I've hit a few easier black trails already with my ifs!!!! lol. And if I play my cards right, I am doing YellowJacket, the whole thing. I am just gonna have to trust my spotter. Nothing against you two, but I hope Lumpy would be able to make it. Not sure with how well RBX spots, didn't use a whole lot of spotters last time we were there.

brandon- you realize that this is my dd rig, and i'm on a budget, and i'm needing new shoes soon, so i'll be able to take on a few more trails. and once i get my locker installed, look out!

aussie = lockrite = ez-lock:
automatically lock when wheel slip occurs

detroit = grizzly:
like a ratchet, so no wheel can turn slower than the diff, only faster (for turns)

The 33's on mine, made it a heck of alot easier to drive then with my 31's. I know yours is a daily though so maybe 31's would be best if your not planning on gearing up. A little more seat time will do you wonders too once your confidence is up in what these things can handle.

I say all this as I don't wanna see Brian go the SAS route and think it will miraculously make the truck unstoppable off-road as it shouldn't be used to compensate for driver ability.

Alright you two, lets stay on topic, all this talk about wheeling....this is Brian's axle swap thread....geez.

Seriously, when can you guys get to Rausch Creek again...I'm itching!
My only reservation with my rig is unnecessary dents, not dings or scratches. Oh, and being able to drive two hours home
