TPS part number change from toyota/installation troubles...

I have an 89 truck, 4x4, 22RE with a bad TPS. The last digits of my original TPS are 28030. THe dealer said the number has changed now to 20050. I've tried this part but it doesn't install correctly. When it is installed and fully adjusted in the closed direction the throttle is still open considerably. Also, the throttle stop screw cannot be adjust to come in contact with the stop.

has anybody else had this trouble or am I just doing something incredibly stupid?

Any help is appreciated, I'm fully frustrated over this stupid thing.

Do you have it on backward? (180 degrees opposite?)

Would it even go on backwards?

No, it's not on backwards, same way as it came off.

make sure the "tangs" of the TPS are on the correct side of the "tangs" on the throttle shaft, sounds to me that they are not

I'm guessing that has to be the problem...I'll see this morning. It would figure it would be something that dumb. If so, I'd gladly take dumb and fixable over something not my fault and difficult to repair.

The dealer is correct in the part number change. I have exact vehicle and new tps with the same number change. You most likley have tangs wrong as mentioned.
