Toyota 3.0 4wd fuel milage

Hello friends, I’m new here, so please bare with me!

So recently I went on a riding trip and hauled my dirt bike and my dads dirt bike down on my Toyota flat deck from Penticton to Vancouver In BC, we were fully loaded, and were fighting a head wind for a good part of the trip. Almost all of it was highway driving but, we calculated that we were getting 17 MPG…. That’s pretty good to me especially given that we were on 32s and the engine has 400,000 kilometres. SO my main question remains, what is your average highway MPG?

Thanks!

91 4Runner on 31's 4.56:1 R&P

I average 13.1 MPG with my 3.0L. I use the Fuelio App to keep track of it. Best is 18.58 MPG worst is 5.27 MPG.
Purchased in 2018 at 234K and rebuilt the motor after HG let go one month into ownership. Now at 264k on the rebuild and just replaced the CAM cover seals with a FeldPro kit. The cover gaskets are rubber and fit the covers much better than the silicone ones I tried before hand and it comes with end caps for the CAM's to get sealed up at the back of the heads FYI!...

Modifications include:
  • Shrouded K&N FIPK so it really is a CAI with my shroud,
  • Four hole injectors,
  • 14° timing,
  • Port matched engine rebuilt with hand lapped heads and decks for Green Lee MLS and ARP studs,
  • DT Headers with turbo flanges welded in to replace slip joints and u-clamps
  • 2-1/2 home made CAT Back with Flow Master Flow-FX muffler and HP-2 in place of CAT,
  • EGR is removed to open up the plenum and the valve cover gets an air filter to keep the TB clean.
Suspension is Blazeland A-arms on Sway-A-Way torsion bars with Eibach coils in back sitting on 1.5" Daystar spacers.
So about 2-3" of lift and 7 inches of track width increase. Cruises at 4K in 5th effortlessly on flat ground, thus the 13 MPG.

I get 17.5 to 20 MPG under various conditions, with highway cruise giving the highest results.

100% stock engine setup. 3000 RPM @ 72 MPH.

17 on my 2000 3.4 on the small curvy roads here. Longer drives on straight lines I've gotten 22 MPG.
