well from what i gathered with a crush sleave you have to re-torq your pinoin brearing ever so often or it comes loose, mine was loose? and i have no clue why, i tightened it b4 it did any damage prolly somewhere around 300 ftlbs and it still came loose again and destroyed my pinion bearing.......ill be reading into it more when i go to setup my new gears

All I know is I lost the pinion bearing preload and it ended up trashing a set of gears. There are a number of ways the crush sleeve can get over crushed and that dramatically increases the chance of damage to the diff.

The crush sleeve is probably fine for stock use, but start wheeling hard (and in my case with dual cases) and it's a liability that you don't need to worry about.

To the OP - WOW that's gross. You got a lot of cleaning up to do! Those pix should be stickied as the example of why you need to extend your diff breathers and check the fluid periodically!

haha yeah, its def a good idea to check your fluids prolly every time you do an oil change...the diff's are just one thing i never got to, im still pretty excited that i was able to drive and wheel the truck just fine with 4.10's i cant imagine what its gonna be like with 5.29's

that still crazy how it rusted inside there like that... I mean even it water gets in there, there should still be enough oil coating everything and keep it from rusting...
