Tips and parts

Ok so I'm replacing the camshaft plugs and valve cover gaskets on my 89 toyota pickup 3.0 V6 with 4 wheel drive. I already have everything tore down and I'm ready to start putting in new parts, but before I do I was hoping for some pointers.

1. What's the best RTV to use for the plugs?

2. My valve cover grommets are bacon burnt, where is the best place/kind to use?

3. Do I also need to replace the cam seals as a precaution?

4. Any general tips to make the job go smoother?

Thanks a ton.

This is an edit to the post. Silly me There are no valve cover grommets. But after getting the camshaft plugs changed in the back and changing valve covers and gaskets, I also need to change the cam seals in the front of the engine. So I have. The front end of my truck disassembled and I bought the seals from advance auto parts. But it seems like they are a hair to small. Is this as it should be? Are there tips to getting them on the shaft? I'm really puzzled.
