HAHA nice Gary. Id say forget the marker and redo it, peel it off before the glue gets stuck to the window.

I also used 5% on the sides. So dark.

5 is a bit dark but alright. You dont really wanna tint your front windows darker then the back. But like i said, watch alot of videos.

soapy water
razer blade (for cleaning window and cutting tint)
squeegee
hard plastic (id card) wrapped in a towel for final squeegee
garage, try and get it warm, they say apply tint when its been at least 40 for 3 days

Videos are your friend tho haha.

Good luck.

Good job Tubby!
You should have asked me for some pointers, there are some easier ways !!
No need to make a template. You all ready have one, THE WINDOW! you are tinting. Spray the outside down with your soapy water and lay a piece of tint on it larger then the window clear backing side out (this means the glue will face you so when you take it inside the glue would be facing the glass) Lightly squegee
Put a drop light inside and use a razor knife, tinters have special blades that dont scratch the glass called OLFA stainless steel blades. You can use a small utility knife, box cutter with the snap off blade just press lightly but make sure you are cutting thru the tint. After you cut it to the proper shape
peel the backing off SLOWLY and spray the glue side and the inside of the window down with your soapy water. After the tint is soaked lift it off the glass and climb in and posiition the tint where it needs to go. Hold it in place with a finger half on the tint and half on the glass start in the middle and squeegee your way out SLOWLY. After the initial squeeging wrap your squeegee in a paper towl.(the heavy duty blue "Shop Towls" work the best)
and repeat.

Sorry for the long post

EDIT FOR POOR SPELLING

Bobzombie, so i tinted my back window last night but i didnt use a template because it was easy. Im going to try the 4 main roll downs later but what other tips to you have?

I have all the tools for tinting btw. hard cards, squeegee, breakable razer blades...etc..

But yea, alot of water is good haha.

okay so i realize how dark 5% actually is after seeing it lol.

what would you say the stock tint for the back of the pickups is? i would be happy if i could get close or slightly lighter than that.

Yea 5% is crazy dark.

20% is what is factory on cars and trucks when they come out of the factory.
But i think the tint we have from the factory is a little lighter then 20, im guessing around 25% or 30%.

My back side windows have 5% over the factory stuff and i cant see anything if its dark out. I also cant see in haha.

If you want your back to be around 5%, i would say 20% over factory is the best one to use. I put 35% over the back window last night on my runner and its light, but perfect for me.

That back window it probably the easiest, its open and flat. hold the tint up, cut, repeat. just make sure the glass is really clean, soap and water, no windex, wipe the edges really well.

Remember, if you rub the tint against it self and its slick, thats the liner side, the tint side doesnt slide over it self. The glue is behind the liner. So if your on the outside cutting the tint, liner side facing you. If your on the inside of the truck, tint side towards you.

Id go 20 tho, i havent heard or seen of 25%. 20 on 20 is like 5%. Ive only seen 5, 20, 35, 40, 50, 80. But at autozone ive only seen 5 20 and 35%.

5 % on the rear sides is a bit too much on the pickups. its pretty hard to see when your shoulder checking like today when i wanted to pass i shoulder checked thru the rear side window and barely saw the car beside me. in foggy weather your screwed. im going to try tinting the rear window in the next few days and buy a sqeegee. using a card isnt that good.

Yeah 5 on top of 20 is way dark for a window you look out of constantly. I had 5% on my old car and it was alright.

Idk if you have an autozone by you, but they sell these teflon cards and a break away blade for like 3$.

i got a little bit of tint left over so im going to stick some tint on one part of the sliding rear window and see how dark it is. tint looks good on black vehicle lol. next time im going to use water instead of soap and water. soap leaves residue
