What happened to helping fellow yota friends out. It seems like some recent threads I have read are going in circles and not really doing anything, besides little pissing matches.

Agreed. I came and asked where I could get an engine. That's really all i needed. Didn't need all the negative BS, or told how stupid i am for not upgrading to a bigger engine. Seems everyone flew right past the part where I explained that I was NOT in a position to do it myself.

Nah, I wasn't offended by your post at all. I was just a little riled by the meth head hippy dudes post when I responded to yours. Sorry if I came across as pissed at you. Wasn't meant that way. And thanks for the link. I'll bookmark it for later in case I need it.

For now, I did what I had to do, and I'm back on the road. Yet another successful mission accomplished.

Thanks

Exactly. And just for the record, the total of everything was the 5K I mentioned. The engine was $2500 remanufactured according to the receipt I have.

I did find out something interesting over the last 3 weeks, and that is, the prices from the dealer aren't fixed. We have 3 dealers here, and after talking to the first one, I let the second one know what I was quoted, and they quoted me less. Did the same for the 3rd dealer, and they quoted me even less. I wonder what I would have gotten if we had a 4th dealer here? LOL

Never knew you could haggle with the dealer on anything other then a new car. But I do now.

There wasn't really any warning. Motor was running great. Just heard a weird sound, similar to something rubbing the fan, then it seized. Mechanic said it hydro locked the #2 cylinder, which broke the connecting rod. So my guess would be the head gasket went, it sucked water and bam.

Start with a compression test to determine where your problems are.

I would agree with 93toyrunner2 on that one. Sounds, solely by your description, that your compression is getting past the compression chamber and entering the crankcase. Could be compression rings gone, or a crack in the piston itself.

After doing a dry compression test, add some oil to the cylinder and test again, looking for how much, if any, it increases. Generally, if the compression doesn't increase with the oil being added, then it would lend to the upper end, and not the lower. But if you're getting blow back from your dipstick tube, sounds like some compression is definitely entering the crankcase.

It's just a guess though.
