are thorley 22re try-y headers universal fit for other year trucks
I won a thorley 22re try -y header model #542y oc on ebay, the owner said it fit 22re 4 runners and trucks, I just discovered that model was for 84-88 engines, I have a 93 22re 4x4 can I make it fit?

I think you might be out of luck as the exhaust ports are different on the head. Unless of course you can flare the ports to match up with the header? Not sure if that is a no-no or not.

exhaust ports are all the same on all the 86-95 22r/re's. they are round on the 81-84 motors. pear shaped on the 86-95. this is why EB's heads are all compatible with the 86-95 trucks.
What might be different is the way the PAIR system attaches and/or the 02 sensor locations.

Thinking about this more, If it' doesn't fit it's probably not gonna be because of fitment issues it's gonna be because of clearance issues. (steering shaft, bottom of firewall etc etc.)
There has to be a reason why manufactures split the 88-89 model years. One of them being is a body design change and the steering column I believe is slightly different as well.

I've been considering a DT header that this guy's got laying around. His is also the older model and supposedly for offroad use - I believe and just from the pics of it, I'm not sure if it would work for our newer rigs. Not sure what yours looks like but one of the immediate differences that I noticed justooking at one pic is that the header has the egr ports plugged off with a piece of tube. Looks to me like it came that way. If yours is like that I figured it could be cut off and ground flat to fit the egr tube back on it.
The shape of the ports is a new one that i didnt consider. Are the exhaust port-shape differences enough to keep the header from sealing up?
Got a pic of the one you bought?

I have the same emission setup as you (picture above) only my header thorley #5427-oc. does not have the pre cut holes for emission tubes on the flange, it does have cut outs on the flange right where I hope the horizontal emission tubes fit. my header allso has a o- sensor right up top of the flange rather than down close to the collector, I wonder if I can just block off that o- sensor and just use the existing sensor on the exhaust, what do you think thanx
