Tachometer acting wierd

Mine did the same thing. I removed the cluster and loosened the retightened all the screws which I'm assuming act as grounds on the flexible circuit board. Problem went away so I'm assuming that is what fixed it.
Try it it's not very hard to do. Maybe this is the cure? ?

It seems in most cases smacking the tach makes it come back to life, same with the temp differences. Metal shrinks when its cold i.e. bad contact, expands when its hot i.e. makes contact. I would say its safe to assume there is a loose connection in the tach somewhere.

I have an 82 pickup with the same tach problem so I'll be looking in to the connections. I also have problems with my factory temp, oil pressure, fuel, and voltage gauges. Sometimes they work, sometimes they don't. Is it cause from the same thing? Bad connections? Low resistance? Or do I have something else going on? I just replaced some burnt fuses and re-wired my tail lights. I'm hoping something I did wasn't the cause.
