Successful tranny swap... almost
First let me say thank you for all of the information on this site. I have just completed the tranny swap on my 87 pickup with very few unexpected problems thanks to all of the info gathered from here. I was having issues with the automatic so replaced it with an R150F out of a 92 4Runner. I found a turbo bellhousing and scrounged local junkyards to get everything I needed. I was able to jump the neutral safety switch and it runs and drives better than ever with no check engine light on. The problem I have now is the reverse lights. All of the connectors are different on the new tranny than the ones on the truck. Can someone please tell me what the connector that the reverse light switch on the 87 pickup looks like and which pins on the connector I need to hook the 2 wires from the reverse light to? Also, the speedometer on the 87 auto was mechanical with a cable and the new transmission is electronic with just a couple of wires. Is there any way to convert the 5 speed to a cable driven speedo? I don't care how fast I'm going but more concerned about the mileage driven.

ok, here we go!
First off, can you change the color of the text in your post? It's invisible, unless I highlight it, as though I were going to copy it all someplace.
Second, if I'm reading everything right: As to the plug. There should be +12VDC on one of the two wires in the plug when you have the key in the ON position. Identify which of the two wires has a constant +12VDC on it with the key ON, and mark it somehow, so you know which it is later. Turn the key OFF, and disconnect the negative battery terminal for safety.
As to the pins of the back up switch: Since it's just a simple switch, open, the two pins not connected, closed the two pins connected, I don't see that it matters which pin is connected to which wire.
When the wires are connected, and you're NOT in reverse, the switch is open, not connecting the two wires in the plug to each other, thus, the backup lights are not lit. When you go into reverse, the switch closes, coupling the two wires together through the switch. This turns the backup lights on.
Thus, when you put the tranny into reverse, the switch closes, applying the +12VDC from one wire, to the backup lights, which are on the other wire, the other side of which is grounded. This gives a complete circuit, from the key, through the backup lights, to ground. Lights on
I don't know if that helps at all...

2toyguy. Thank you for the answer and the advice. Funny thing is that it looked fine on my iPad but when I looked at it on the big computer I couldn't see it either.
