This rubber hose in on the engine block side of the starter right? What exactly was the problem with yours?

I live in Mexico City. Do you think the dealership here can get a starter for my truck? Toyotas are new to Mexico City, and all the models here are 2005 and newer.

I would like to rebuild the starter, but I don't have a garage; I live in an apartment downtown, and I am hesitant to attempt all of this in the street.

Heres's an idea. Order a set of contacts for your starter online then take them and your truck to a local mechanic. You might even print out pictures of how to do it. Its a pretty simple fix that just about any mechanic could do...Nissan or otherwise. With the low labor rates in Mexico you wouldn't be saving much money doing it yourself. Sounds like there may be more going on besides your starter contacts, but this is a good place to start.

i had the same problem as you...

i fixed it by replacing the ground wire that goes from the block to the battery. and the one from the back of the valve cover to the body...

As you may know, there's an access panel in the passenger wheel well - you'll prob want to remove the wheel and go through that.

start with the ground first..

cut the ground wire back from the terminal and look for corrosion in the wire (if you see green just replace, with a new cable...

u should have several grounds, head to fire wall
battery neg to eng. block. and so forth block to fenderwell
