strawberry milk in tranny!!

Ok...so I went out wheelin last night, and got myself into a real deep hole, it didnt look that bad untill i got into it, and wouldnt ya know it, the water ended up coming over my hood, any way long story short, I got it out and running, however there is still some water in my tranny, What would be the best thing to do at this point..other than the obvious(Flush it out, new filter etc) do you think that will be enough, or am i going to be looking for a new tranny? thanks in advance.

O... also It sat for about 6 hrs in the hole, and was only driven about 8 miles to get home. and I DO have pics.. ill post the links later on!

Take it to a shop that has a flush machine, have them do a full flush to clean all the water out, as well as putting a new filter on it. And next time, dont drive though the water!

What did it drive like during those 8 miles. Flush the tranny (maybe even a couple times) and then refill it with fluid. You might be lucky.

From what I've heard it takes a lot of flushing. Might want to start flushing with some cheap ATF since it will likely take multible flushes. Each flush can take up to 15 qts of ATF so the $$$ can add up fast. But I'm no expert.

Most of the others I've seen have been radiator ATF coolers that failed and the tranny was filled with coolant. Not sure which is worse The dirt in muddy water could be worse I guess.

Your water was probably sucked in the breather vents or through the dip stick joint.

Good luck

it actually drove and shifted normal, im gonna do the flush myself, the nearest shop is 30 miles away, so grab 3 times the amount of fluid...maybe i be ok? I hope so, already did this a few years ago, and ended up having to replace the tranny, didnt know there was water in it for almost 2 weeks tho, any additives that may help? Thanks for the quick responses

I guess you're lucky you didn't hydrolock it too. Maybe it would be a good idea to back into large bodies of water to test the depth.

actually it was hydrolocked.. took me forever to get it cleaned out and started, and now after it being in the garage overnight, it wont start... took the ecm out, and its drying now... not getting spark from distributer, but there is spark from the coil, hopefully I can get it started soon, all that water is still in the tranny, and i cant flush it without the truck running!
And had I thought the hole was as deep, I wouldnt even have tried, but I have taken this trail many times, and its never been like that.. I hear some guys with 37+ inch tires have been going through and tearing it up.

Add air and compression and there should be explosions happening. Air in and air out, hey you didn't plug up your exhaust did you?

Have someone crank it while you put your hand over the tailpipe. Maybe you got some crap clogging the cat.
