strange squeeling from 89 22re *help*
Ok this just started last night, I'm not exactly sure where this squeeling is coming from except that I can hear it from the top and middle half of the front of the engine. All I have is one belt for alt. And water pump, and that's not squeeling. It kinda sounds like metal on metal and it did just snow here in VA if that helps at all. It also squeals at all rpms but get louder the faster the engine goes.

Check the water pump, when the bearing in the pump goes bad it can squeel real loud. I had this happen on my 86 4Runner. Try removing the fan belt and starting the truck, and see if the squeel is gone, if it is then chances are that its the water pump.

strange squeeling from 22re
My '92 22re did this last spring. Being stumped I took the truck to my trusty mechanic: he found that the top pulley that drives the PS pump had a worn bearing. He pressed the defective bearing out and a new one in. The noise disappeared. Don't rule out the suggestions of our fellow posters, but keep this one on your list of probable causes.

well i found out the problem, the dam fan clutch came off the pully while leavin work... still in the parking lot for that matter. and now i have these big gashes in my radiator from the fan blades hitting it. but on the bright side, the fan blades, pump, pully, and belt are fine. but i did go and get a new radiator out of a 2x4 v6 and the radiator looks the same so im gonna give it a shot tomorrow.
