Strange sound from Clutch
I am getting a whining sound when my truck is in idle. When I slightly engage the clutch the whining decreases. I don't notice the whining at all when truck is moving. Would replacing the shifter seat and bushings solve this problem?

Throw out bearing is shot. Shifter seat would only fix the problem of the shifter poping out of gear.
Time to drop the tranny and replace the bearing. I would just go ahead and do a full service job on it - Throw out Bearing, Pilot bearing, clutch, resurface flywheel, new rear main seal.

Thanks for the info. I thought I might have some tranny issues. I have a very difficult time shifting into 1st if I haven't down shifted when coming to a stop. I have rebuilt the engine top to bottom, but I haven't done any tranny work. Is this a task for the inexperienced?
