Stock starter 95 Toyota pickup pre taco

So I need a new starter for my truck, but everything on the label is worn out, so I can't tell what I need for a replacement starter.

Any help?

Are you sure the starter is bad or is it just the electrical contacts inside that can be replaced?

I'm not into replacing parts on the starter. I just want to install a new one.

What engine and transmission does the truck have?

RockAuto has a dozen (almost) of them from $50 to $110. https://www.rockauto.com/en/catalog/...ter+motor,4152

Even though you want a new starter, removing and testing the old one might reveal that your problem is not in the starter after all (meaning; a new starter won't fix it). In my neck of the woods, most auto parts stores will test your starter for free (plus, they'll sell you the right one if you want).

Trust me..it's the starter. The starter sticks in the engaged position when I start it in the morning (cold start). Just gonna replace it.

The motor is a 22re, manual transmission.

Yeah, that could be a sticky solenoid. Or, perhaps more likely, a damaged ring gear/pinion. If a replacement clears up the problem, then you were correct.

So back to my original question. What kind of starter do I need? There are different KV sizes. I need to know what the specs are for the stock starter.

The colder climate you live in, the higher KW starter you should get.

In more moderate climate, the less powerful starters will do fine.

My starter was acting like yours on my 92 pickup with 22RE. I bought the CarQuest 1.0 kw rating reman starter with lifetime warranty from Advance. The Driveworks reman with one year warranty at Advance is 1.4 kw. I am here in NC, so it does not get extremely cold here.

Installed the Carquest reman on 11/7/2018 right at two years ago. Has been working great so far.
