The mud is wicked, but usually frowned upon. A little muddin here and there isn't bad, but nothing like if you were at Prarie City. You can tell that people hit the "pits" at the lake all of the time. But don't let the rangers see your truck caked in it.

Really? You can get in trouble for wheeling in the lake?

Really? Reverse is your best gear for pulling. In my W-56 it's 4.09 vs a 3.95 first gear.

Uh, it's more so frowned upon. There is a single sign, tucked away somewhere, that says "no mud bogging" But when asked, I've never seen said sign...

You can pull better and get better traction, but you're on the coast side of the gears instead of the drive side which is weaker.

I used to do all of my pulling out in reverse though and never had a problem. I'm also probably the worst in the country at maintaining differentials and I still never had a problem. Just know that in reverse the gears are weaker and you are taking a chance and you'll be fine.

I definitely wouldn't pull in reverse if I was on the pavement though...

Haha. I only attempted that pit because I knew you could pull me out. I figured I'd get stuck any way, but it was worth a shot.
