Today my speedo finally just totally gave up and dropped to zero. Wasn't even out wheeling it, just driving on a smooth, flat, 50mph bump free stretch of road. Is there any possible way for me to test my VSS before I shell out the money for a new one? I'm still not totally sure if it's the VSS or the speedometer itself that gave out. I haven't pulled the dash apart yet but I checked and cleaned the VSS connection.

Beaniam...
Just check every posting in the 5 or so threads on this subject. I remember one of them had either a drawing or a link to a source that showed which of the three connectors to hook up to a multimeter to test the actual VSS.
If I remember correctly, you then turned the geared shaft, and depending on the reading you got on the multimeter you could tell if the VSS was bad.
