I just took my Runner in to have the CEL looked into, Darn 25 AND 26 Codes! Anyway they are going to be replacing the rod. I looked at the work order and it says they will need to check and fix the alignment and toe-in/ toe-out FREE ALIGNMENT!!! On the house! HAHAHAHA!

WOW, Toyota customer service is great, I called them and they are going to repair my truck over here in Germany, and if it wasn't for this forum I wouldn't found out about the recall or Toyota's 1-800 number. Thanks guys.

Smile Wow...

1989 SR5 4X4 pickup. 16 years old...240 thousand miles.
Toyota is STILL looking out for their owners, even after all this time.

Dealership is replacing my 'steering relay rod' as we speak.
I didn't even know about this recall. My truck was in the shop for other reasons. They notified me of the recall.

Doxon Toyota in Auburn, WA is OK in my book.

You should be able to get the whole tie rod assy for about the same price as buying the inner and outer ends seperately. That way you will get new adjuster sleaves.

I called to see if my truck was affected by the recall if it would be serviced, since I am in Germany, they said yes, but they can't find my truck. They said that they would get a specialist to look into this, I called on Thursday night, I am still waiting for answer. Oh yeah and yes my truck is US SPECS. Has anything like this happened to any of you??
Dude, that's exactly what I ran into. I called US Toyota and Nothing in system. They suggested I call Canada and they had nothing. I called back to US Toyota and the girl tried to help me, but couldn't tell me what to do except for just saying it wasn't coming up in their system. I asked her if there was anyone else I could call and she put me on hold for about 5 mins to research the VIN and came back and said she could verify the first 8 digits, but after that she couldn't verify. She suggested I take it to the dealership and let them see if it was under the recall. I kinda thought that would be futile, but who knows.

Anyone else know what to do? Anyone with a break down on what the actual VIN nos. & letters mean to see if it matches?

Nor is mine. Our VIN's start with JT4VN, U.S. Modles are JT3VN. Guess we'll have to wait.

LeeBee, is your's on the list?
Also LB, is your avatar taken in front of Sherwood Garden, in Ajax?? If so, I was there today, looking for it

Son of a...guess my truck makes 8 for the recall. I went to the junk yard to get a 20r intake manifold for my 83 20r/22r hybrid and as I was leaving the shop where my other truck was ....*Silence* the steering wheel turned both directions but the truck went straight. Luckily I was in a parking lot. And now it's going to be Monday before they can "look" at it. I can look at the stupid steering relay rod and see where it broke, about a inch from the pitman arm..oh well, I'm gonna give 'em a bit of crap, but not too much at least they're going to fix it...to be continued...

Wonder if they are giving out a rent a car if they are going to take their sweet time like they did with the head gasket replacement campaign.

I'll find out Monday, I was supposed to leave today and go to Mississippi for two weeks for work. Now I can't go until my truck gets fixed or I get another vehicle.

I was hoping to be able to keep the old parts, like I usually do, but they said that they have to send the old stuff in to Corporate. It will be tomorrow before they get the parts, so hopefully they won't have gotten rid of them when I go this afternoon and I can take a picture of it.

Where's the best place online to get the whole tie rod assy?

I'm afraid to go in and have it done because I dont want the "well, we need to replace that too" and end up with $$$$ to the stealer.

Also who has the best svc dept. in DFW?

thanks!

Mike

Here are a few of my favorites:
http://www.trademotion.com/partlocat...?siteid=214074
https://www.1sttoyotaparts.com/tollfree.html
http://www.toyota-parts.com/

Two of those are local to you, but tell them you are an internet customer for the best deal.

I just had mine done today. They listed they "checked the toe" but when i took the truck in yesterday it drove straight, now it pulls to the left. Are they supposed to do an alignment? I cant image they wouldnt...

And they tryed to sell me a $250 idler arm.

I just saw on another thread about this that dealers may replace the tie rods and adjustment sleaves under the recall in the rust belt areas if they are rusted badly. So you might check on this with your dealer before replacing them.

I asked at my dealer today as I picked up the Repair manual for my 94 4runner, and it is going in to be fixed tomorrow. Good with some free stuff after my transfer case replacement.

they are giving everyone the "you need to replace your idle arm" routine. I got it and a couple of my friends got it. It your vehicle pulls take it back and ask them to realign. they tend to forget and then try to blame it on the idle arm (tip from a former toyota tech). It is how they make a little money from the free recalls.
