I just bought my 91 Hilux, and the steering was wandering pretty bad, lots of slop. I did a driveway replacement of the pass. side complete tie rod assempbly (inner outer+sleeve) and idler arm...I did an "eyeball" alignment, and drove down to Toyota of Seattle to get my centerlink warranty replaced and a FREE alignment. Lobby had WI-FI, coffee, snacks, big ass TV. Brian, the mechanic working on my truck, came out to let me know I was missing four lug nuts... (the lock nuts I didn't have a key for) and also to ask me about the obviously freshly installed parts. When I told him I did it just before I came and the truck was newly bought, he invited out to the garage to check out my new truck up in the lifts. We did a pretty thorough inspection of the suspension and driveline, aligned the truck, and chatted about various upgrades coming down the pipeline.
I gotta say, my experiences with dealerships runs the spectrum, and this place was just a class act. I just bought a 2010 subaru wrx at renton walker subaru, and I wouldn't piss on that place if it was on fire... I know I'll be back to Seattle Toyota, they were really great. I can't believe I got a warranty part replacement for a truck built in 1991 with -no- hassle from a dealership. I was totally stoked.

Im at Bell Road Toyotas service department now for the steering relay rod replacement.
I'll give a progress/customer satisfaction report when theyre through.
Should be a couple of hours.
At least they have coffee (food for the gods) in the waiting room and internet access.

Its DONE!
4 hours (supposed to take 2),4 doughnuts,3 cups of coffee and NO money out of pocket!
I couldnt imagine a 20 year old truck with 170+k miles would have any problems but I wasnt willing to stake my life on a failure.
Total billed to Toyota,$321.01
For Arizona inmates I cant say enough about the top notch customer service at Bell Road Toyota. My first pleasent experiance at a stealership anywhere!
They didnt try to sell me anything, upgrade anything or argue about the recall.
Service writer Bob Buckshaw was very dilligent on keeping me apprised on the progress and was a pleasent person to deal with.
All in all a pleasent experiance.I wish more bussineses had this kind of customer service.

I took my 1990 pickup with just over 300,000k miles in for the recall. The dealership had it all day...but called me about 5pm to say it was ready. I had them do a front end alignment at the same time...... lol....my 20 year old truck just got a new lease on life.

Im not shure but i believe the 2 and 4 wheel drives use a different shaft from the back f the column to the s box. my buddy had a 2 wheel drive early 95 pickup. He was leavin work and the shaft twisted completley in two. On the two wheel drives they have a hollow center section. Thats rite where it twised apart. Luccaly he was jus pulling out of a parkikng space instead of gettin on the freeway

The latest involves a Grand jury:

Grand jury? That’s right; the news ramps up speculation that criminal charges could be coming to Toyota.

I just looked up my VIN on the yota recall site.Said my 90-4Runner A/C expansion valve needs to be done.My A/C is not working,it seems I have a leak. What are the chances of me leaving the dealership with a working A/C?

i got a letter through the mail about 4 years ago notifying me my 1993 Toyota pickup short bed reg cab 4x4 had this recall i carried it to the local Toyota dealer and they replaced the steering rod that connects to the idler arm and goes across to the other side not sure exactly what its called but the one that they put up there was considerably bigger than the old one every thing was free and only took about 30 minutes i wonder why no one else got the notification 4 years ago like me?

Vin?
I went off the insurance card and toyota said my 4runner doesn't exist. I checked the vehicle and sure enough, insurance card is off by 1 number. Oddly enough, with the correct vin, my 4runner still doesn't exist!!! WTF? I just spent 2k to fix the head gaskets after they told me last time mine wasn't included!! Maybe because it never existed. If mine was included all along, I'll throw a tantrum and show all my true colors Anybody else with a nonexisting toyota?

Yea had mine done at bell road Toyota bout 4 months ago when I called in on it they said that's an old recall haha. Still didn't cost me anything but cost dealership almost 800 dollars th redid my whole steering all brand new.

My bad!
After talking with the toyota folks on their 800 number, we surmised a 5 was actually a S. Little numbers are hard to read. My 4runner doesn't fit the recall because build date of 5/24/95. What did they do different between 10/94 and 5/95?? Besides try to save money on recalls?!
