Shifter Stuck in Park

Shifter Stuck in Park
Hello everyone, I just bought a 1990 4 runner v6 sr5 4x4. To operate the shifter I have to use the shift override button. I have searched on the forum and what I found was to replace the brake fuse. I did this but it still doesn't work. Any other ideas?
Thanks in advance.

Note that a "brake" fuse is not in the circuit; I assume you mean "Stop."
As with any electrical problem, you'll need a multimeter. No, there is no other way, not even to save $6. http://www.harborfreight.com/7-funct...ter-98025.html

It's the shift lock computer. It's a small black box to the left of the shift lever with 3 plugs I believe. U have to take off the plastic trim around the lever to see it. It's in a bad spot. It gets super hot where it's at!

In order for the shift interlock to disengage it needs to see a brake signal. Check to make sure the brake light switch ( down on the brake pedal) is plugged in and working, also check to see if your brake lights light up when stepping on the brake pedal.
