Shift solenoids or...? 89 pickup 3.0
I don't want to drop 200 bones on a kit if I don't NEED to.. Sometimes it's perfect and shifts through the 4 flawlessly, sometimes it feels like its in second at a stop, now my question is, is there a fuse for those solenoids? Is there maybe dirty connections I can clean easily or got vibrated loose? Because its perfect sometimes, sometimes notso..

Its time to replace the solenoids, they are beginning to stick. I believe there is a kit you can get on Ebay or Amazon that has all three solenoids and its around 70$

I saw it once upon a time for like 65, if anyone has the link for a good whole kit for under a hundy thatd be much appreciated .. . looks like an easy job too, just drop the pan, plug and play and reseal, how much atf goes back in ?

Best bet is to measure the amount you drain possibly using a measuring cup.

Yeah I eventually did but I don't like to order parts from ebay, everything else sure.. but not mechanical parts..
Guess I'll drop the 2 bills on it because at the end of the day, its worth that to have your truck shifting right.. Gotta find a slight incline to park my truck on so I can get under it and do that if I can't find a lift to borrow. So i need those, and the pan gasket, anything else?

Best bet is to measure the amount you drain possibly using a measuring cup.

what about stock from toyota? where could I order a NOS set? Figure they lasted this long..

that might have to wait lol 200 is more than enough for 3 small solenoids...
but theres nothing else that could be contributing to that problem? speed sensor or nothin? because sometimes they shift on the money, sometimes I only have 2 gears.

It's an 89 v6 so I figure it's the A340
i don't understand that paperclip way of doing it, from reading it just seems, and feels like shifts are goofed by improper I guess solenoids. I've only worked on bike trannies but know what a solenoids job is, so figure one shifts on the mainshaft, one on counter

Let's try it this way. In 1993, there were at least 4 possible automatic transmissions. http://personal.utulsa.edu/~nathan-b...autotrans.html Fortunately for you, the three A340x's all have the same diagnostic system, described in the link. The A43D may have been used only in 2wd vehicles; you didn't say.
Are your problems caused by bad solenoids? Uh, I dunno. Your transmission probably has over 1,000 parts, and breaking any of at least 900 of them will mess things up big time. The fact that solenoids are easy to get on eBay does suggest they fail more often than, oh, lock rings. But if I had a 340E, F, or H, I would first take advantage of the very smart computer to see if it is willing to help me out.

Ive been looking everywhere how to just adjust the throttle cable and finding everything else, can someone please post a link or copy and paste how to do it ,and not be a dick about it thatd be great. thanks

I read the AT FSM back to front, a simple cable adjustment was all it needed and I was about to drop 200 on damn solenoids! I always preached FSM about vintage harleys , guess its the same for everything, thanks for those links!
