Yeah, and how much does it cost to do a suspension lift on a IFS? I have an 88 1st gen with IFS and I live with it, I am sure the week spot in my rig is the driver and will be for a long long time. If I break CV joint or such than it is probably because I choose a bad line or did something wrong. I have seen SA take much much abuse like the video of the SA pickup that was on here earlier going over a bunch of rocks and just dragging the front axle. I would like a 85 runner with SFA, (by the way that SFA alone raises the price way up, so yes stock SA does make a retail difference) but I plan to learn to wheel what I have first, what's the point of a built rig if my skills are putting my foot to the floor and hoping my extremely nice parts can do all the work for me?

I don't get it, can you even have a drivers license? It's not about the stuff, it's about the skill. It just seems that you would have less trail hours than many yotatech members. but you will always be ahead of someone, so in 10 years you will have all kinds of off road experience and wisdom and i am sure it will piss you off when a 15 year old says he can wheel way better than you. It's all cool tho, i am sure you have many friends to spank when it comes to wheeling

By the way working since you were 12 to save up for a yota is sweet but it is going to suck when next thing you know you have nothing left in your bank account. Ditch it while you still have some money and free time. Because once you start modding (especially to one up people) it all disappears

I still agree with Linux, 94runnerguy. Invest in bigger tires and lockers and then wheel all over the place, have some adventures, and save the money you were going to pour into that stupid 3.0. It'll take you everywhere you want to go, especially in 4LO. Then when you break something in the heat of your competitive 4x4 'passion', you'll have the money to fix it.

But hey I'm only 20, what do I know? Well, I guess the only thing I do know is that I had to get it out of my system when I was 16 but my dad helped me get through that on the same set of tires and without one ticket OR mod to my 351 Windsor

Why did I waste my time reading this thread?

Who gives a crap if you have IFS or SAS? If anyone thinks that their balls are bigger because they have IFS or SAS, then they'd better check their mother's purse.

the only major drawback to IFS is that even with a lift you dont get any more wheel travel, just room for bigger tires

You can get a little extra travel by installing longer shocks and low-profile bump stops.
Oh yeah, and of course disconnecting the swaybar.

As long as I can do this kind of wheeling than IFS will be just fine.

Ahhhh, whatever happen to the old WHEEL WHAT YOU GOT! I think the SA holds up better in the long run, we have 2 scouts, and an 88 Bronco at our place in upstate NY, and have never had a suspension problem with any of them.(engine wise is a different story. For the trails I do(being a weekend warrior) IFS works just fine, but hey, even if I had a 2wd 4 banger, I'd still lift, lock, and wheel it. As we all know, both have their pros and cons.

I'm only 16 as well, and have only been saving up since this year to get some mods for my (first) truck.

Did you just wake up on the wrong side of the bed this morning and say "I'm going to make my best attempt to have everyone on the forum flame me!"? That's sure what it seems like.

I think that your soon to be setup is very cool, and that you should do what you like with your vehicle, but don't go on bashing people saying your truck (which is currently unmodded) is going to spank everyone on this forum. We all know that a truck locked on 33's can/will go farther than unlocked on 40's. Both have their pro's and cons, and most people won't go places that they actually need a SFA. Let's just go with what Bobakazi said:

Not going to agree or disagree with you on this one, but please explain what IFS has anything to do with being better that a Solid Axled truck in ruts when that comes down to ground clearance and hp along with good tire tread getting you thru, not suspension set-up.
