Selling my 90 extracab today...SIGH!
I am selling my 90 excab 4wd to a coworker today. I've had it for about 4 years and 50,000 miles.
My wife and I nicknamed it "Large Marge" because she had a hard time parking it. The wife never bonded with Marge, she loves the size and maneuverability of the 4runner.
I bought it 4 years ago with 180,000 miles. It is completely rust free with a nice body and 1 year old paint. I swaped in bucket seats, installed nice tunes, SR5 alloys and 32 inch BFG's, new battery radiator, timing belt and windshield. It's never let me down in almost 50,000 miles.
Before the paint and SR5 wheels
It's pretty nice for a 19 year old truck. The problem is no AC! It's hot here in the summer and no AC sucks! I also don't need 2 4wd trucks.
I am replacing it with a 2wd excab 22re, its also really clean. I am making it into a corner carver with 18 inch Mustang Bullit wheels, KYB shocks and anti sway bars but that is another thread...
I can't believe I am so sad to be selling an old truck but I am. I loved that truck.
I know some of you feel the same way when you sell a toyota.
Thanks for letting me vent guys!
Bye Marge, you'll be missed.
Robb

Thanks guys,
My coworker was so excited to get the truck. She had a similar one that she sold last year and has regreted it ever since.
These trucks are pretty hard to find with no rust and if you do they are usually expensive.
I do still have my 4runner, the wife will never let me sell that one...

Wow! That is one of the cleanest rigs I've seen out here. I'm sorry you had to sell it but I agree with you on the AC issue. I'm going to miss my 89 pickup when it goes since the AC in the 4runner doesn't work. Of course with no top on it the AC isn't really an issue yet.

Man if you have time give me a call and you can come over and check out the runner. Of course if you drive yours over my wife will be asking me why mine isn't as clean as that one is.

The suspension is stock, slight Tbar crank and some 6" shackles to level it because of the flat springs. I Also had Procomp 3000 shocks on it.
Those wheels are 15x8 with 3 1/4 backspace. The wheels stuck out too far and rubbed the pinch weld so I swapped them out for some Black painted SR5 alloys. I had also removed and sold the fender flares.

Robb I love it! Why in the hell I ever thought a pickup would be all I needed is beyond me. I haven't had a chance to wheel it since the gear swap *cough* but I'm hoping I can soon. I'm still rat holing money for little things and waiting to order my lift but so far I can't complain. The only thing so far that pisses me of is the previous owners lack of "attention to detail". I'm finding lots of little things that drive me nuts. Not the least of which is his attempt at installing an aftermarket radio, stupid amp and speakers along with a busted ass Kenwood deck. I'm in the middle of cutting that crap out and installing an 89 Toyota SR5 deck, if it's not Toyota it really has no place in my rig....... well unless it's a 4crawler/Marlin Crawler/SDORI/Downey etc upgrade, but you know what I mean.

LOL, you can tell her it's because you haven't dumped thousands of dollars into a 23 year old pile of junk...

I plan on keeping my 4Runner for a very long time, but I do plan to get a pickup, possibly a Tacoma in the future. The dogs need the 4Runner interior, but my dirtbike needs a truck bed.
The A/C was one of the first things I addressed when I bought my 4Runner. It gets hot here, almost the hottest in the U.S so A/C is super important to me. If I didn't have A/C I'd be putting it in or selling the vehicle to buy one with A/C so I understand when someone sells a vehicle that has no air.

I grew up in So Cal, anywhere from 110-115 degrees. Sometimes hotter. A/C is for old people and those with children......lol.

It gets 115+ in southern California?
I just don't like showing up to where I'm going covered in sweat and dieing of dehydration smelling like an overworked landscaper. Plus, I don't know very many woman who like to ride in a 130* vehicle in the middle of the summer and even if I did meet one, I'd rather not have "relations" with her after she's been marinating in a Toyota crock pot all day.
